Surprise visitors at Salinas City Hall yesterday! Ahead of cheering on the @usmnt football win, @iambeckyg stopped by and since Salinas doesn’t have a key to the city, Mayor Dennis Donohue did the next best thing and presented her with an official Salad Bowl.

Also joining the visit: @theylovedaboy of @montereybayfc who has also represented the US Men’s National Team. Great energy in City Hall!

The room was packed with some of the brightest minds in biological agriculture from around the world, including a delegation all the way from Brazil. Scientists, growers, and innovators.

This year’s event featured a major Brazilian delegation, startup pitch sessions, and workshops all centered on the future of farming in regions like ours.

Mayor Dennis Donohue took a ride with Richard Ruiz; one of the original members of New Arrivals C.C., the first recognized lowrider club in the Tri-County Central Coast region.

Founded in Salinas on February 18, 1973, New Arrivals C.C. started as a group of teenagers looking for something to do and grew into a pillar of this community. They played a key role in Salinas lifting its historic ban on cruising, and have spent decades giving back through charity car shows, toy drives, and community events.
